don't worry, I recommend playing in any way that is comfortable (for me that's keyboard and mouse). I've logged over 140+ hours solely on the keyboard and mouse. The only real difficult thing to get the hang of is the camera controls, they're a little shaky but not at all incommunicable to get used to.
As Rise said you lot can get DSfix which just... fixes dark souls haha. You can also become DSMfix which is specific for the mouse controls, merely I don't personally use it.
i highly recommend the controller, equally an old school keyboard and mouse guy this is the merely game i can say that about. its congenital for it and works perfectly. i would grab the game and try it one thousand+thou and become the controller when u can

Why couldn't something crazy happen like the programmer do some work and amend the keyboard and mouse controls. Yeah, crazy I know! :-)
But seriously, come on devs. Terminate doing lazy panel ports and put some work in. It can be done, look at Far Cry iii for case, which is a very expert console port. Except for the inventory and card system which screams console port it plays very well. If nosotros go on rewarding companies for lazy ports they'll just proceed making them.

It's not that From is lazy, they were inexperienced. The community petitioned like crazy to get any kind of PC port. From wasn't going to practice i because they didn't know how to port to PC, but they did it for the customs and nosotros should be grateful nosotros got annihilation at all.
Also comparing the blazon of controls it takes for Dark Souls to Far Cry 3 is non fair at all. Far Cry three is a first person shooter, and while it'south on consoles FPS was made for KBM. Dark Souls is a 3rd person "Action" RPG, there's non a 100% formula to brand that work on PC.
From is going to practice a better PC job on Night Souls 2, but judging them for something they didn't originally want to do is ridiculous.
The guys behind DSfix (overall fixes), DSmFix (Mouse ready) and DScFix (Connection fix) are amazing.
I'yard one of those people who can't manage to learn how to play anything on gamepad or arcade sticks.... Everything I play is on the keyboard and mouse. (Even though I had an Atari, Sega Genesis and PS 1 over my childhood... I somehow forgot how to use gamepad right).
With the DSfixes it's not an issue. I've seen people saying keyboard players had a "handicap" on their gameplay... just honestly... I really don't run into why. On a keyboard + mouse we have 10 fingers available for imputing commands...this really sounds like an reward if yous inquire me.
PS: I think it's important to have a mouse with multiple buttons, though.... having a 2 or iii buttons mouse to play Darksouls probably makes everything much harder.

My only problem with the DEFAULT M/K controls is the mouse dispatch problems, get the dark souls mouse prepare which FIXES that problem and the K/K controls are equally as good every bit the gamepad. Trust me I've played with both for hours and both work FINE!

I dont have a controller nor have i ever im my life had a panel of whatever type... and so yeah keyobard and mouse is my want, and it works just fine :)
